Marty Cheatham began his Princeton football career as a too-slow free safety. He finished it as a unanimous first-team All-Ivy League selection.
Dennis Norman began his Princeton football career with a broken leg. He finished it as one of four three-time first-team All-Ivy picks in Tiger history.
Cheatham was unanimously named first-team All-Ivy as a fullback, while Norman was a first-team offensive tackle for the third straight year.
Linebacker Bob Farrell was named Princeton's 2001 captain on the same day.
Cheatham was mostly a special teams player until a year ago, but he developed into Princeton's best pass-catching running back since Judd Garrett over the last 16 games of his career. Cheatham finished the season with 38 receptions, of which 19 came in the final two games of the year, including an 11-catch, 164-yard performance in the win over Yale that earned him Ivy Player of the Week honors. Norman, the anchor of Princeton's offensive line, joins Derek Graham, Damani Leech and Matt Evans as three-time first-team All-Ivy Princetonians.
Defensive end Nathan Podsakoff, linebackers Mike Higgins and Chris Roser-Jones and offensive lineman Ross Tucker were also second-team All-Ivy picks. Taylor Northrop, who led the Ivy League in punting and field goals made, was a second-team pick at both.
Defensive back Kevin Kongslie and offensive lineman John Raveche were honorable mention picks.
Higgins and Norman shared the Poe-Kazmaier Trophy as Princeton's Most Valuable Player at the team's annual banquet.
