Princeton Women's Hockey Drops Season Opener, 3-2

BOSTON, Mass. - Andrea Kilbourne responded to a Northeastern goal by Lisa Giovanelli in the first period of the season opener for Princeton women's hockey to tie the game 1-1 at Matthews Arena. The game remained tied until the third period when Sara Mahoney and Erica Archambeau scored to put Northeastern up 3-1. Abbey Fox scored a 6x5 goal at 19:21 as Princeton pulled goalie Sarah Alquist at the 2:02 mark to make it 3-2. The Tigers were unable to score in the last 38 seconds to pull out a victory.
Princeton out shot Northeastern 48-23, 34-12 after two periods, but Husky senior goaltender Erika Silva made a career-high 46 saves. Sophomore Sarah Alquist made 20 saves for Princeton.
The Tigers are 0-1 (0-1 ECAC) and will play at Providence on Sunday, Nov. 5 at 2:00.
