PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Andrea Kilbourne scored two goals and added an assist in the 4-4 tie against Providence on Sunday afternoon at Schneider Arena. Kilbourne's second goal with less than two minutes to go in the third period sent the game into overtime.
Senior Laura Hays began the scoring on a power-play goal from freshman Gretchen Anderson at 16:28 in the first period. Providence answered right back less than a minute later with a goal by freshman Darlene Stephenson at 17:06 to even the score 1-1.
Providence seemed to gain the edge by scoring the only two goals of the second period. Goals by Angela Hill and Meredith Roth gave the Friars the 3-1 lead to begin the third period.
Kilbourne's first goal at 9:18 in the third assisted by Melissa Deland and Lucy Firestone began the Tigers battle back. Gayle Shallo would put the last point on the board for Providence on a power-play goal at 14:36. Sophomore Nikola Holmes scored a minute later on the power play, fed by Abbey Fox and Kilbourne before Kilbourne tied the game, this time assisted by Sarah Fox, with less than two minutes to go in regulation to send it into overtime. But the score would remain locked at 4-4. Freshman Megan Van Beusekom, making her first collegiate appearance, started in net for Princeton making 16 saves.
