Princeton Women's Hockey Rains On St. Cloud State

ST. CLOUD, Minn.- - Nikola Holmes scored the game winning goal to lift the Princeton women's hockey team to a 5-4 victory over St. Cloud State Friday night at the National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn. Trailing 4-2 toward the end of the second period, the Tigers scored the last three goals of the evening to raise their record to 3-5-1 overall (2-5-1, ECAC).
Abbey Fox opened the game with a power-play goal in the first period. St. Cloud State answered back with two power-play goals by Roxanne Stang before freshman Gretchen Anderson notched her second goal of the year for Princeton. Another power-play goal by Rachel Denner followed less than a minute later by a Kobi Kawamoto score gave the Huskies a two-goal advantage before Princeton rattled off three straight.
Andrea Kilbourne began the scoring spree with back-to-back goals, at 16:11 of the second period and 7:25 of the third, to even the score at 4-4 and set the stage for the game winner by Holmes. Kilbourne and Holmes contributed two assists each while Fox assisted on the last three goals of the game. Sophomore goalie Sarah Ahlquist made 10 saves in the scoreless third period. Princeton was 1-2 on the power play while SCSU went 3-4. Princeton out shot SCSU by one, 28-27. Ahlquist and SCSU goalie Laura Gisselman were even at 23 saves apiece.
Princeton will battle St. Cloud State again on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 7:05 p.m.
