PRINCETON, N.J. - Kathleen Savino's game-winning goal inched in between Megan Van Beusekom's pad and the pipe and found the back of the net in the third period of the Princeton women's hockey game on Sunday to give the eighth ranked Northeastern Huskies the 2-0 advantage. The Huskies got on the board first on a power-play goal at 7:32 of the second period after both teams played a scoreless first.
Abbey Fox scored on a feed from Andrea Kilbourne and Lisa Rasmussen at 14:43 of the third period to bring the Tigers within one. But Northeastern sealed the win scoring an empty net goal at 19:57 after Van Beusekom was pulled with less than two minutes to go in the game. The Huskies 3-1 victory marks the second time Northeastern has defeated Princeton this season.
Princeton took 21 shots to 23 for Northeastern. Van Beusekom and Erika Silva each made 20 saves in goal.
