PRINCETON, N.J. - Andrea Kilbourne's boarding penalty at 6:24 in the third period gave way to a power-play goal by Jessica Tabb of Providence to give the Friars the 1-0 advantage in women's ice hockey Saturday afternoon at Baker Rink. Both teams played solid defense for a scoreless first and second period.
Kilbourne helped get the Tigers back into the game less than two minutes later as she and Susan Hobson assisted Abbey Fox with the game-tying goal. The game remained tied, the second time Princeton and Providence have tied this year, after a five-minute overtime period.
Freshman goaltender Megan Van Beusekom made 21 saves, three in OT. Amy Quinlan made 20 saves for Providence. Princeton was only out shot 21-22.
"Megan played really solid," said head coach Jeff Kampersal. "She's such a tall kid that even if she's out of position the puck seems to find a way to hit her."
Princeton will face Northeastern on Sunday, Dec. 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Baker Rink.
