PRINCETON, N.J. - After 14 minutes of play, the women's water polo team found itself down 3-2 to Indiana in the opening game of the 2000 Princeton Invitational at DeNunzio Pool. The Tigers outscored the Hoosiers 6-1 in the second half to come away with an 8-4 victory.
Cassie Nichols (So., Santa Barbara, Calif.) led Princeton with four goals, while four other Tigers tallied one goal each. Other goal scorers included juniors Alina Brown (University Place, Washington.) and Katherine Kixmiller (Menlo Park, Calif.) along with first-year players Adele McCarthy (Haydenville, Mass.) and Jenny Edwards (Houston, Texas).
Once again the Tigers got a tremendous defensive performance from goalie Goga Vukmirovic (Sr., Sarajevo, Bosnia), who made 14 saves in the game.
The Tigers are now 2-0 on the young season and will be back in action on tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 26, as they host Queens and Brown as the 2000 Princeton Invitational continues. The Tigers will round out weekend competition against the top ranked team in the East on Sunday, as they take on UMass at 1:45 p.m.
