PRINCETON, N.J. - Sarah Brownlee (Fr. Minneapolis, Minn.) scored her first career goal 17:49 into the third period to tie the game for the Princeton women's hockey team (8-7-5, 6-6-3 ECAC). The Tigers fell behind the Niagara Purple Eagles with only 30 seconds remaining in the second period and battled back for the tie.
Princeton and Niagara, Nos. 9 and 8 in the national polls as well as the ECAC standings were battling for the final spot in the ECAC playoffs which are to begin during the second week of March. Valerie Hall scored the Niagara goal before Brownlee tied it up for the Tigers.
Princeton had its chances, taking a total of 36 shots on goal and had a two-skater advantage for nearly a minute and a half mid way through the third period, but could not convert. In all, Princeton was 0-for-4 on the power play in a very physical game.
Sarah Ahlquist (Fr., South St. Paul, Minn.) made 20 saves in net for the Tigers.
Both teams return to action tomorrow at 2 pm at Baker Rink.
