PRINCETON, N.J. - The 2000 Princeton women's water polo team finds itself where few East Coast teams have been--the Top 10. On Wednesday, the U.S. Water Polo Association announced the Tigers were No. 10 in the latest Collegiate Top 20. In a poll dominated by West Coast programs, Princeton jumped two spots from last week's No. 12 ranking with a win over then No. 8 UMass.
This is the first time Princeton's women's water polo team has cracked the Top 10 in its four-year history as a varsity sport. The Tigers reached the No. 11 spot in the April 12 rankings last season and finished the year at No. 14.
"We are excited about our climb in the polls, but we know there is still a lot of work to do to get where we want to be at the end of the season," says head coach Luis Nicolao.
The Tigers are currently 5-0 on the season and will begin CWPA League action on March 11, as they take on West Chester at Villanova at 11:15 a.m.
