Women's Hockey Season Ends With Loss

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton women's hockey team needed a win in today's game against the No. 1-ranked Brown Bears to earn the eighth and final playoff spot in the ECAC. The Tigers could not pull off the upset, falling by the score of 4-2. Princeton's season ends with a record of 11-13-5 overall and 9-12-3 in the ECAC. Brown will advance to the tournament with a record of 21-3-3 and 19-2-3 in the ECAC.
Brown jumped out to a 4-0 lead before Princeton could dent the scoreboard. Courtney Johnson scored the first and third goals for the Bears. Brown also got goals from Kristy Zamora and Kim Insalco.
Princeton's goals were scored by Annamarie Holmes (Jr., Apple Valley, Minn.) and her sister Nikola Holmes (Fr., Apple Valley, Minn.). Annamarie Holmes scored her goal on the power play and received assists from Aviva Grumet-Morris (So., Evanston, Ill.) and Andrea Kilbourne (So., Saranac Lake, N.Y.). Grumet-Morris also added an assist on Nikola Holmes' goal at the 18:32 mark of the second period.
Sarah Ahlquist (Fr., South St. Paul, Minn.) made 22 saves between the pipes for the Tigers. Ali Brewer stopped 16 shots for the Bears.
The loss marks the first time in seven years that Princeton will not advance to the ECAC quarterfinals.
