A 13-3 Win Over Villanova Sends Princeton To Title Game

PRINCETON, N.J. - Adele McCarthy-Beauvais (Fr., Haydenville, Mass.) scored five goals as the women's water polo team defeated Villanova 13-3 to send the Tigers to the 2000 Eastern Championship title game against UMass tomorrow at noon.
The Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first quarter, and five goals in the second frame gave Princeton a 7-2 advantage at intermission. Three goals in the third and fourth quarters left Princeton with the 13-3 win at DeNunzio Pool.
McCarthy-Beauvais led the Tiger with five goals, while Katherine Kixmiller (Jr., Menlo Park, Calif.) scored three times. Jenny Edwards (Fr., Houston, Texas) added two goals in the win.
Senior captain Goga Vukmirovic (Sarajevo, Bosnia) played a tremendous game in the goal, recording eight saves and holding the Minutewomen scoreless in the first and fourth quarters.
The Tigers are now 23-3 on the year. Princeton will return to action tomorrow, Sunday, April 30, as it host UMass in the Eastern Championship game at noon.
