Men's Heavyweight Crew Falls Takes Second At Eastern Sprints

WORCESTER, MASS. - Both the men's heavyweight and lightweight crew released hold of the EARC Sprints titles, as the heavyweight eight came in second to Brown, and the lightweight eight came in fourth today on Lake Qiunsigamond.
In heavyweight competition, the men's varsity eight finished in a time of 5:44.99, just 1.81 behind Brown, who finished in 5:43.18. Wisconsin finished in third. The Tigers also finished second in the second varsity eight to Brown. Princeton clocked in at 5:54.93, while Brown crossed the finish line in 5:51.99. Princeton finished third in the third varsity eight in a time of 6:09.44. The Tigers took second in the freshman eight and fifth in the second freshman eight.
The men's lightweight eighth finished third in the opening heat and took fourth place in the grand final with a time of 5:56.27. Columbia won the event in a time of 5:52.48, followed by Yale in second (5:52.59) and Harvard in third (5:55.63). The Tigers won the second varsity race in a time of 6:08.18, followed by Yale in second (6:09.33) and Harvard in third (6:09.49). The men's third varsity finished third, while the freshmen eight took first, crossing the finish line in 6:15.21, just 1.39 ahead of second-place Dartmouth.
The lightweight and heavyweight men, along with the lightweight women, will be in action at the IRA national championships in Camden, N.J., on June 1-3.
