Track Teams Host Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton University men's and women's track and field teams hosted the Princeton Invitational at a sunny Weaver Track and field stadium this afternoon.
Paul Morrison continued to dominate by finishing second in the 1500 meters with an NCAA qualifying time of 3:44.97. Ryan Smith ran the 800 meters in 1:48.82, good enough for second place and fourth all time at Princeton. Scott Denbo won the shot put with a toss of 60-1. Dennis Norman qualified for the IC4A championships with a second place discus of 176 feet. Tensai Asfaw was also an IC4A qualifyer with a 3:48.17 fifth place finish in the 1500. The Princeton Mile Relay team also qualified for the IC4A with a second place 3:14.58. Finally, Liam Morton was the final IC4A qualifier for Princeton with a 207-9 javelin throw.
The women were paced by Catherine Casey with a time of 10:13.43 in the 3000. Becca Desman finished first in the high jump with a leap of 1.78 meters. Nikola Holmes won the long jump with a mark of 5.73 meters. Erica Dickson won the triple jump with a mark of 12.14. Becky Haarlow was second with a mark of 11.51 meters. Princeton's 4x400 relay team was first with a time of 3:47.54.
Both squads will compete at the Heptagonal championships at Penn next weekend. The men's team is looking to finish off a third straight triple crown.
