Men's Track and Field Claims Three Champions, Sets Three Records on Day One of Outdoor Heps

PRINCETON, N.J. – Opening up the Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Championships at home, the Princeton men's track and field team dominated on day one of the conference championships, claiming three individual champions and breaking three records.

With five of 22 events scored, Princeton currently leads with 57 points, ahead of second-place Cornell with 19.

Finals
Nick Molloy started the day, winning Princeton's first Ivy title of the meet in the pole vault. Clearing 5.08m/16-8, senior Molloy won his first Ivy Championship in the event, besting Cornell's Kegan Mancabelli on a tiebreaker.

Greg Foster completed his undefeated Heps career in the long jump, winning his ninth Ivy title as he once again broke the league record in the event. Jumping 8.06m/26-5.5, Foster set a new league record for the third time this season. The performance is also a meet record and a season best, ranking him seventh in the nation.

Richard Lawson added four more points for the Tigers in the long jump, taking fourth with a mark of 7.30m/23-11.5.

First-year Joey Goodenow had a standout performance in the discus. With a new personal best of 57.32m/188-1 on his final throw, Goodenow jumped from third place into first to become the Ivy Champion at his first outdoor Heps.

He and senior Joe Licata went one-and-two, as Licata took second with a new personal best of 56.52m/185-5. With the Tiger discus squad having a day, Anthony Liakhnovich rounded out the discus scorers, also setting a new personal best as he placed fifth with a throw of 54.04m/177-3.

Asher Robbins took second in hammer, throwing 65.33m/214-4 while adding eight points to the Tiger tally.

Avery Keith and Jack Gregorski also added to the team score Saturday night with fourth- and fifth-place finishes in the 10,000m, respectively. Clocking in at 29:45.05, Keith added four points while Gregorski clocked in at 30:02.40 for another team point.

Prelims
Joey Gant stunned in the 400m, setting a new Ivy League record as he ran a blazing 45.08. Also setting a meet record, the mark ranks 11th nationally. After crossing the finish line first by over a second, Gant advances to tomorrow's final.

There, he will be joined by Xavier Donaldson, who took third in the 400m prelim with a new personal best time of 46.53.

Jackson Clarke also had a day, setting a new program record in the 200m with a time of 20.35. In addition to the 200m, he will compete for the 100m championship tomorrow after winning today's prelim with a time of 10.28.

Five Tigers advanced to tomorrow's 1500m final, dominating as they led as a squad for two of the three heats. Brian Boler took the top time, clocking in at 3:45.96. Myles Hogan, Collin Boler and Connor McCormick all advanced with top-three finishes, while Jackson Shorten advanced on time with a mark of 3:46.32.

Four Tigers also advanced to the final in the 110m hurdles. Greg Foster took third overall with a time of 13.93. Easton Tan, William Bright and Yuki Hojo will all join him in the final.

The Tigers will close out Heps tomorrow as they seek the program's third-straight outdoor title and third-consecutive Triple Crown. The action will kick off at 9 a.m. in Weaver Stadium, beginning with the 5000m races.
