BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Princeton women's water polo team finished the season in eighth place at the 2000 Collegiate National Championships at Indiana. The eighth-place finish is the highest in the program's history. The Tigers ended the three-day tournament with an 8-5 loss to UMass on Saturday and an 8-6 loss to UC-Davis on Sunday afternoon.
Despite three wins against the Minutewomen earlier this season, the Tigers could not handle UMass the fourth time around, losing 8-5. The Orange and Black came out flat and never got on track offensively.
Against UC-Davis, Princeton built a 5-1 lead, but missed five man-advantage opportunities in the third quarter. Davis battled back for the 8-6 win, leaving the Tigers in eighth place.
Adele McCarthy-Beauvais (Fr., Haydenville, Mass.) and Jenny Edwards (Fr., Houston, Texas) led the Tigers in scoring with two goals each against Davis, while Alina Brown (Jr., University Place, Wash.) and Megan Bouchier (So., Menlo Park, Calif.) each scored one time for Princeton.
The Tiger finish the season 25-6. The six defeats are the lowest number to losses in the program's history.
