Princeton Women's Hockey Shuts Down Wayne State

PRINCETON, N.J. - Andrea Kilbourne and Gretchen Anderson had three points apiece in the 6-0 blowout over Wayne State Sunday at Baker Rink. Kilbourne and Anderson each scored two goals and added an assist in the game. The Tigers (9-8-2, 4-8-2 ECAC) scored three goals in the second period and three goals in the third. The Princeton offense was overpowering as the Tigers pounded out 43 shot on goal compared to five for Wayne State (5-15-1, 0-6 GLWHA). Sarah Ahlquist started the game in goal for Princeton and recorded just two saves over two periods. Megan Van Beusekom played the third period in net for the Tigers making three saves. Princeton took 66 total shots, Wayne State took eight.
After a scoreless first period, the Princeton scoring onslaught began as Andrea Kilbourne recorded her first goal of the afternoon at 6:19 in the second. Kilbourne was assisted by Abbey Fox and Jen Neil on the play. Anderson notched her first goal of the day on a power play at 12:55 assisted by Nikola Holmes and Aviva Grumet-Morris. Anderson then assisted Kilbourne on the last goal of the period less than a minute later to give Princeton the 3-0 lead. Susan Hobson struck early in the third period at 1:32 with an unassisted goal, her second of the year. Kibourne and Grumet-Morris assisted Jess Fedderly for her third goal on the season, Princeton's fifth goal of the game. Anderson netted her second goal of the game at 16:49, assisted by Angela Gooldy, to give the Tigers the 6-0 win.
Princeton returns to action on Feb. 3 at Boston College at 6 p.m.
