Tigers Lose Late Game Lead, Fall to Wildcats 4-3

DURHAM, N.H. - The Princeton women's ice hockey team let a 3-1 third period lead slip away Saturday afternoon as the Tigers lost to 10th ranked New Hampshire 4-3.
Gretchen Anderson started the scoring with a goal at 8:49 in the first period. Abbey Fox and Andrea Kilbourne assisted on the play. Kilbourne scored with less than a minute to go in the period to give the Tigers (6-7-2, 2-7-2 ECAC) a 2-0 lead going into the first intermission.
Anderson scored again in the second period on a power-play goal, assited by Nikola Holmes and Aviva Grumet-Morris, to extend Princeton's lead to 3-0 before New Hampshire responded. A power-play goal at 9:45 by Kristin Thomas on a give from Michelle Thornton started the Wildcats' (11-7-0, 7-4-0 ECAC) comeback as they trailed 3-1 going into the third period.
Janine Goulet's goal at 5:52 and Thornton's goal at 12:59 in the third tied the score 3-3. A Princeton penalty at 16:43 gave way to the winning goal by Annie Fahlenbock for a 4-3 New Hamphire win.
Princeton took 24 shots to New Hampshire's 26. Megan Van Beusekom made 22 saves for the Tigers. Jen Huggon made 21 for the Wildcats.
Princeton will play at Maine (8-7) on Sunday, Jan 7 at 2 p.m.
