Princeton Back On Track With 4-3 Win Over Maine

ORONO, Maine - Gretchen Anderson's two goals within two minutes of each other late in the third period lifted the Princeton women's ice hockey team to a 4-3 win over Maine on Sunday. It was the freshman's second consecutive two-goal game. She also added an assist for the Tigers (7-7-2, 3-7-2 ECAC).
Princeton trailed 2-1 to end the first period. An early power-play goal by Andrea Kilbourne at 2:12, assisted by Abbey Fox and Anderson, gave the Tigers the early advantage but Maine's Karen Droog and Raffi Wolf scored within a minute of each other late in the first to give the Black Bears the lead.
Jessica Fedderly tied the game for Princeton at 10:45 in the second period, assisted by Lucy Firestone and Susan Hobson. It was Fedderly's second goal of the season and the only goal scored in the period.
Maine's last goal of the game came late in the third period at 10:59 by Andrea Keller to put the Black Bears up 3-2. Anderson scored the game-tying goal on a power-play at 12:49 and the game winner at 14:11 for the 4-3 Princeton win. It was Anderson's eighth and ninth goals of the year. Princeton was 2-3 on the power-play while Maine was unable to convert on four opportunities. Princeton goalie Sarah Ahlquist made 23 saves in the game. Laura Smart made 30 saves for Maine.
Princeton returns to action at home on Saturday, Jan. 13 when it hosts St. Lawrence.
