Women's Hockey Ties with Niagara 3-3 in OT

NIAGARA FALLS, Ont. - Nikola Holmes scored the game-tying goal in the second period for Princeton, but a scoreless third period and five minute overtime resulted in a 3-3 tie in the Tigers' second game of the weekend against Niagara.
Candice Ceelen scored the first goal 55 seconds into the first period, followed by a goal at 8:29 by Valerie Hall to give Niagara (16-12-4, 8-10-4 ECAC) the 2-0 lead. Andrea Kilbourne scored a power-play goal on a feed from Jessica Fedderly and Aviva Grumet-Morris to bring the Tigers within one before the first period expired.
Kilbourne assisted Grumet-Morris on the power-play in the second period to tie the game at 2-2 before Brooke Bradburn's goal at 11:23 put Niagara back on top. Just over a minute later, Holmes scored her sixth goal of the season to tie the game 3-3. Neither team scored in the final 25 minutes of play. Megan Van Beusekom made 11 saves in the third period and only one in overtime for Princeton. Niagara goalie Tania Pinelli made eight saves in the final regulation period and five saves in OT.
Princeton (11-11-3, 6-11-3, ECAC) will play its final home games of the season on Saturday, Feb. 24 against Maine and Sunday, Feb. 25 against New Hampshire at 2:00 p.m. at Baker Rink.
