Women's Water Polo Defeats Hartwick in ECAC Semifinal

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton Tigers defeated the Hawks of Hartwick this morning, 11-3. The Tigers advance to the championship match of the ECAC tournament that will be played at 2:30 today. Princeton will face the winner of the Brown vs. Harvard contest, the match is set to begin at 10:30 a.m.
The Tigers had a solid game on both the offensive and defensive sides of pool. Princeton goalie, Jenny Hildebrand registered 10 saves in the contest. She stopped two breakaway attempts and blocked one penalty shot. Hildebrand made several key saves early in the second and third quarters that allowed the Tigers to pull away from Hartwick, at one point opening up a 9-1 lead.
Princeton was able to penetrate the Hawks' defense and draw four penalty shots. Adele McCarthy-Beauvais has a total of 11 goals in three tournament games, including this morning's match. Against Hartwick, McCarthy-Beauvais posted five more goals and drew two penalty shots. Cassie Nichols has had a sensational tournament thus far, scoring 10 goals in three games, three goals came against Hartwick and she drew one penalty shot. Annie Olson was the final Tiger to draw a penalty shot
Senior Alina Brown scored two goals and had one assist in the match against Hartwick. Brown, and fellow senior captain, Katherine Kixmiller will swim in their last match held at DeNunzio pool, this afternoon at 2:30.
