Providence, R.I. - Princeton women's water polo defeated Harvard 11-7 and UMass 8-7 today, in the opening day of the Eastern Championships. The Tigers are schedule to face Brown, tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 p.m. in the championship game.
In today's first match, the Tigers defeated the Crimson of Harvard University 11-7. The Tiger scoring effort was lead by Adele McCarthy-Beauvais and Jenny Edwards who both finished the game with three goals apiece. Jenny Hildebrand, who has been solid all season in goal, had eight save in today's first contest.
Princeton defeated UMass in today's second game 8-7 with 1:04 remaining on the clock in the second overtime period. Katherine Kixmiller scored the game-winning goal for the Tigers. Princeton looked as if they were going to pull away with a slim 7-6 victory, yet UMass was able to tie the game with 24 seconds left in the match on a man-up shot. McCarthy-Beauvais finished the match with four goals.
Princeton will face Brown tomorrow afternoon. Princeton faced Brown twice this season, dropping an early season match-up and defeating the Bears, 9-6 in the ECAC championship game.
