Women's Open and Lightweight Crews Win Varsity Races at World Cup of Rowing

PRINCETON, N.J. - The women's open and lightweight varsity eight crews won its races on Mercer Lake in the World Cup of Rowing on Saturday. The open varsity eight crew defeated Penn by more than 15 seconds to win the 1984 Cup. Princeton won with a time of 6:40.6. Penn was second (6:55.6) and Dartmouth was third (7:01.35). The lightweight varsity eight defeated Wisconsin by just over two seconds. Princeton won with a time of 6:47.40. Wisconsin was second (6:49.73) and Radcliffe was third (6:54.73).
The 2nd varsity eight open crew (7:36) defeated Dartmouth (7:48.32) and Penn (7:59.29) on Carnegie Lake. The varsity four (9:06.6) and varsity four 'B' (9:15.5) also won. The novice eight (7:43.5) and novice four (9:19.12) finished second to Dartmouth.
Princeton's lightweight novice eight defeated Wisconsin on Carnegie Lake by 21 seconds. The novice eight crew finished with a time of 8:15.1. Wisconsin had a time of 8:36.55. The varsity four crew (9:33.17) finished second to Wisconsin (9:05.6).
The women's open and lightweight crews will host Georgetown and George Washington on Carngegie Lake on May 5.
