Julie Shaner Selected as Tewaaraton Trophy Finalist

Washington, D.C. - The University Club of Washington, D.C. has announced the five finalists for the inaugural Tewaaraton Trophy, which will be given to the finest women's lacrosse player in the country at an awards dinner on June 6. Princeton senior Julie Shaner (midfielder, Gwynedd Valley, Pa.), Maryland's Jen Adams, Duke's Kate Kaiser, Georgetown's Sheehan Stanwick and Maryland's Quinn Carney are the five finalists for this prestigious award.
Shaner, a tri-captain, has scored 163 points (109g, 54a) in 71 career games, and is Princeton's all-time leader in ground balls with 288. She is a two-time All-American, a three-time All-Ivy selection, was selected as the 1998 Ivy League Rookie of the Year and was a member of the 2000 NCAA All-Tournament Team.
As a senior, Shaner has scored 40 points (20g, 20a), and leads the team with 55 ground balls. Her 30 caused turnovers are second on the team, and Shaner competed in the 2000 NCAA soccer tournament with the women's soccer team at Princeton.
