Tora Harris Wins High Jump at Sam Besch Memorial

Princeton, N.J. Senior Tora Harris won the high jump at the Sam Besch Memorial in Dudelange, Luxembourg on Sunday, July 15, completing a strong showing for Harris on his recent European tour.
Harris earned the Sam Besch title after a jump of 7' 3.5". Wolfgang Kreissig of Germany also cleared that height, however, Harris won the tiebreaker by clearing on his first attempt. Kreissig took two jumps.
The win marks the third straight for Harris, who also won the high jump in meets at Belgium (7' 3") and Germany (7' 1") the previous two weeks.
"I really have a lot of confidence right now," says Harris. "I came real close to the qualifying standard for the World Championships at the last meet. Hopefully I can clear that this summer."
The international standard is set at 2.31 meters or roughly 7' 5". Harris finished as the top collegian and fourth overall at the U.S. Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore and therefore qualifies for the World University Games in Beijing, China on Aug. 29.
