The Princeton field hockey team is ranked sixth in the latest HockeyPoint! Division I coach's poll.
North Carolina has taken over the top spot in the poll, followed by Maryland, Michigan State, Michigan and Wake Forest.Old Dominion, the defending NCAA champion, and the preseason favorite, has dropped to seventh after an 0-2 start to its season.
Princeton went 14-4 in 2000 and captured its seventh-consecutive Ivy League title, and 10th overall, with a perfect 7-0 record. The Tigers made their seventh appearance in the NCAA tournament, defeating Penn State 4-4, before falling to host Maryland, 3-1, in the second round.
The Tigers open their season on Sept. 7 when they host Northeastern at 1 p.m. on Class of 1952 Field.
