Field Hockey Ranked Fifth in NFCHA Poll
September 25, 2001 | Field Hockey
Sept. 25, 2001
PRINCETON, N.J. - Princeton has retained its hold on the No. 5 spot in the latest National Field Hockey Coaches Association poll, released Sept. 25.
Maryland, ranked No. 3 in the first poll of the season, has taken over the top spot from North Carolina. The Tar Heels sit at No.2, while Old Dominion drops from No. 2 to No. 3 and Michigan sits at No. 4.
Princeton has a tremendous opportunity to move up in the polls this weekend, as it will go head-to-head with two of the top three teams in the nation. It will travel to face No. 1 Maryland on Friday, Sept. 28 for the first meeting between these two teams since a 3-1 Terrapins win in the second round of last year's NCAA tournament ended the Tigers' season. The y will then return home to face defending national champion Old Dominion, ranked No. 3, on Sunday, Sept. 30 at 1 p.m. at Class of 1952 Stadium.
