Box Score
Princeton, NJ - Led by Katie Skelly's 18 points and seven rebounds, Dartmouth (5-8, 1-2 Ivy) defeated Princeton 65-58 to hand the Tigers (8-7, 2-1) their first Ivy loss of the season. The Tigers shot 35 percent from the field and 36 percent from three-point range while Dartmouth made 56 percent of its shots. The Big Green shot 60 percent from the field in the first half and outrebounded the Tigers 38-24.
Princeton trailed by as much as eight points, 47-39, with ten minutes to play. Allison Cahill then got a steal and converted on the layup to start a rally which would give the Tigers the lead, 56-55, with just over three minutes to play. The rally was fueled by a strong defensive effort that included steals and stripped rebounds by Cahill and Eileen Powers.
But for all of her efforts in bringing the Tigers back into the game, Cahill struggled down the stretch. Down by five points with 50 seconds to play, Cahill missed two free throws that would have made it a one possesion game. A final Cahill three-point attempt fell short with fifteen seconds to play as Dartmouth closed out the game with an 8-2 run.
Cahill finished with a team-high 12 points and a career best five steals. Kelly Schaeffer added 10 points, connecting on 2 of 3 from three-point land, and Ashley Rook pulled down eight rebounds.
The Tigers are idle for two weeks and resume action on Jan. 29 at Stony Brook.
