Men's Track and Field Competes at Armory Invitational

New York, N.Y. - Tora Harris set a new Princeton indoor track and field record when he jumped 2.25m in the high jump competition at the Armory Invitational. Harris' jump is the highest mark in the nation this year and automatically qualifies him for the NCAA finals. Joshua McCaughey, a provisional qualifier for the NCAA finals, finished in second place with a distance of 19.21m in the weight throw.
Harris was recently awarded the prestigious Abel Kiviat Award presented by USA Track and Field. The award is presented annually to New Jersey's top national/international athlete in the discipline of Track and Field. Harris captured the bronze medal at the 2001 World University Games this past summer. Nicole Harrison'98 was recognized with the Abel Kiviat Award in 1997.
Cameron Atkinson captured the 55m dash title with a time of 6.46 defeating C.J. Simonsen of Navy by .14 seconds. Atkinson's qualifying time in the preliminaries was 6.42. Ryan Smith finished first in the 500m with a time of 1:03.83. Teammate, Jeff Key finished in second with a time of 1:05.33.
Princeton's Kevin Gallagher captured the men's mile title with a time of 4:12.53 and the Tigers finished first in the distance medley relay (9:47.92). Freshman, Paul Lyons had a strong performance in the shot put, finishing in second place with a distance of 16.58
