Joe Clarke placed sixth in Sunday's Missouri Open after wrestling to a 5-3 record on the day. Clarke was the only Tiger to wrestle in the event as a preview for the NCAA Wrestling Tournament to be held later this year at Missouri.
Clarke won his first match of the day, a 9-5 win over Johnson of Cumberland College, but lost his next match 6-2 to second-ranked Nate Parker of Oklahoma.
Clarke won his next four matches, 17-6 over Bailey of Cumberland College, by Fall over Cook from Indiana, 8-1 over Justin Sinclair of Central Michigan, and 7-6 over Teyon Ware from Oklahoma.
His string of wins set up another match with Nate Parker, which was won by Parker. Then Clarke lost 2-2 in double overtime to Derek Phillips of Central Michigan to place sixth.
