Tigers and Black Bears Play Even in Women's Hockey

Princeton, N.J. - Princeton's Becky Stewart scored at 1:36 into the first period and teammate Gretchen Anderson netted one for the Tigers as they opened a 2-0 lead five minutes into the match against Maine. Maine tallied one goal in the second period and one in the third to even the score at 2-2. Neither team scored in overtime. Princeton moves to 5-2-2 on the season; Maine now stands at 3-5-1.
Stewart took a pass from April Brown on the left side the net and slipped it pass Black Bear goalie, Lara Smart for Princeton's first goal. Anderson scored her second goal of the season at 5:06 in the first period. Susan Hobson and Angela Gooldy were credited with the assists.
Maine's Cindy Biron pulled the Black Bears to within one at 4:39 in the second period. Rebecca Culver and Andrea Steranko earned the assists. Nicole Munro evened the score at 5:49 in the third period. On the assists were Meagan Aarts and Katie Hartley.
Sarah Ahlquist recorded 22 saves for the Tigers. Princeton got 30 shots on goal compared to Maine's 24. Smart tallied 28 saves.
Princeton will face Northeastern on Sunday, December 1 at 2:00 p.m.
