Box Score
Denver, Colo. - Sophomore Karen Bolster knocked down seven three-pointers and the Tigers connected on 12 as a team, but it wasn't enough to overcome a second-half offensive explosion from Morehead State on Saturday night at Denver, Colo. The Eagles scored 55 second-half points and defeated Princeton 94-86 in the consolation game of the 2002 Pioneer Classic.
The game was close throughout the first half of play. The Tigers were able to force 14 first-half turnovers and converted those takeaways into 18 points with seven Tigers registering steals. Princeton took its biggest lead of the half into the lockeroom, holding a 44-39 advantage at the break.
Bolster caught fire in the second-half with five threes, including three straight in a three-possession stretch for the Tigers. Unfortunately, Morehead State also caught fire and finished the half shooting 56 percent from the field. Travece Turner of MSU led all scorers with 29 points, teammate Tasha Gales had 25 points and 16 rebounds while Kandi Brown chipped in 16 for the Eagles. Bolster led the Princeton attack with 23 points, Rebecca Brown scored 22 and Kelly Schaeffer added 12.
Morehead's 55 second-half points is the most Princeton has allowed this season and marks the second straight game in which the opposition has scored 50 or more points in the second half. Denver scored 53 in yesterday's game.
Princeton's 86 points is the most ever in a Tiger loss. Princeton is averaging 69.1 points per game this season with four players averaging double figures.
The Tigers fall to 4-6 on the year, MSU improves to 5-3. Princeton plays its third straight road contest next Friday at Rider. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
