Princeton, N.J. - The Tigers kicked off their indoor track and field season on Saturday evening with the Princeton Invitational, anon-team scoring event that featured over 550 athletes from 14 teams. Included in the meet were Heptagonal rivals Penn and Columbia.
Josh McCaughey provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships with a mark of 19.29m in the 35 lb. weight throw. The mark earned McCaughey second place behind Thomas Jacob Freeman of Manhattan who captured the title with a distance of 21.80. Mark Smith of Princeton recorded a personal record of 17.72 in the weight throw and placed fifth in the competition. Princeton's Rocky Craley captured the shot put title with a mark of 16.39m
Marcus Ford-Bey finished second in the triple jump (14.13m) and Abrandon Braunstein took second in the pole vault, clearing 4.50m.
Dan Mackenzie finished first in the 3,000m with a time of 8:36.67 and teammate Adam Ludwig placed second, crossing the line at 8:48.83. Edmund Zysik recorded a personal-best 2:27.52 in the 1,000m, good for second-place. The Princeton "A" team captured the 4x400m relay title with a time of 3:21.40.
Princeton's Eric Beights and David Dean went two and three in the men's mile with times of 4:18.58 and 4:26.77
