Men's Track and Field in Third After Day One at Heptagonal Championships

Ithaca, N.Y. - Josh McCaughey's 20.18m (66-02.50) mark in the 35-lbs. weight throw gave him the heptagonal title as the Tigers competed in day one of the Indoor Heptagonal Championships. The Tigers are currently in third with 31 points after five of 19 events. Cornell (43) and Dartmouth (38) stand in first and second. This year's meet is being held in Ithaca, N.Y.
Javius Wynn finished second in the pentathlon by just four points, 3858-3854, behind Dartmouth's Taylor Smith. Wynn's performance included a time of 8.22 seconds in the 60m hurdles, distances of 6.82m in the long jump, 12.08m in the shot put, 1.99m in the high jump, and a and a time of 2:51.38 in the 800m run.
Cameron Atkinson recorded the second fastest qualifying time in the 60m dash (6.90). He will compete in tomorrow's finals at 1:00. Ryan Smith posted the second fastest time in the 500m trails (1:04.39) placing behind Brian Abram (1:04.01) of Penn. Tomorrow's 500m final is to be held at 12:50.
David Dean recorded the fastest qualifying time in the 800m (1:53.07) and Tigers Kevin Gallagher and Jonathan Kieliszak have qualified for the mile finals to be held tomorrow at 12:10 p.m. Tristian Colangelo (8:30.92) and Michael Baird (8:33.55) have both qualified for tomorrow's 3000m final.
Dwaine Banton's 7.18m (23-06.75) jump placed him fifth in the long jump.
