Princeton, N.J. - Allison Cahill nearly recorded a triple-double and Maureen Lane led four Princeton players in double figures with 24 points as the Tigers upended Cornell 70-56 at Jadwin Gym on Friday night. Sixty percent shooting and 43 second-half points propelled Princeton to its second straight win and led to Cornell's third straight loss.
Princeton wiped out a seven-point halftime deficit with a 21-1 run to open the second half. After a close first half that saw five lead changes and Cornell pull away to a 34-27 lead at intermission, Princeton led 48-35 with eight minutes gone by in the second period.
Cahill finished with 16 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists while Lane led the team with 24 points. Both Cahill and Lane finished with four three-pointers as Princeton tied a school record with 13 three-point baskets. Cahill's 12 rebounds surpassed her previous best of nine she set earlier this season versus Santa Clara. Kelly Schaeffer scored 15 points and Karen Bolster notched 10 to give Cahill, Lane, Schaeffer and Bolster 93 percent of Princeton's points on the night. Lauren Rigney pulled down nine rebound and registered two blocked shots, both of which came in Princeton's 21-1 second-half run.
Princeton improves to 10-15 overall and 4-8 in the Ivy League. The Big Red drop to 14-12 on the year and 8-5 in the conference. Cornell wraps up its season tomorrow night at Pennsylvania. Princeton faces Columbia tomorrow and then concludes its season with Pennsylvania at home on Wednesday, March 6. Tomorrow night's game starts at 7 p.m.
