Women's Lacrosse Team Wins At Loyola

Baltimore, Md. - Sophomore Theresa Sherry scored three goals and assisted on two others to help lead Princeton past Loyola on Sunday afternoon in Baltimore. The Tigers scored six second-half goals and scored five unanswered goals en route to a 10-6 win.
Sherry opened up the scoring with her team-leading sixth goal of the season in the game's first minute of action. The Greyhounds scored two straight goals to go up 2-1 before senior Charlotte Kenworthy netted her second goal of the year to tie the score at 2-2. Loyola took the lead again with Suzanne Eyler's free position goal with 6:34 left in the first half. Princeton then went on its 5-0 run and never looked back.
Sherry scored her second goal of the ballgame with 3:24 left to go in the first period and senior Lauren Simone scored less than a minute later to give the Tigers a 4-3 lead at the intermission. Freshman Lindsay Biles, who scored four goals in Princeton's win over Lafayette last Wednesday, scored to open the second half of play. Senior Mimi Hammerberg scored back-to-back goals to complete the 5-0 Princeton run and the Tigers led 7-3 with 16:37 left to play. Two more Loyola goals cut the lead to 7-5, but that was as close as the Greyhounds would get. Junior Whitney Miller scored off a Biles assist and Sherry scored her third goal of the game 39 seconds later to push Princeton's lead to 9-5. Eyler slipped one past Princeton goalie Sarah Kolodner to make is 9-6, but Simone's second goal of the day sealed the victory and wrapped up the game's scoring.
The Tigers outshot Loyola 24-23, won the game's last five draw controls while committing 13 fouls compared to Loyola's 18. Princeton came away with its second win of the season. The Tigers improve to 2-1 overall and return home to face Virginia on Sunday, March 17 at 1 p.m.
