Pottsboro, Texas - The Princeton University men's golf team combined for a tournament score of 933 and finished 11th at the Pepsi Intercollegiate this afternoon. The Tigers completed Sunday's final round 60 shots back of tournament champion Michigan State at the Tanglewood Resort in Pottsboro, Texas.
Freshman David Huestis led Princeton on the final day with a three-over-par 75 and ended the tournament with rounds of 82-76-75. Senior James Milam was the top Princeton finisher with a two-day total of 230 and rounds of 78-75-77.
Freshman Creighton Page opened the spring with a rounds of 76 and 78 and today shot an 80 to finish with a 234 and tied for 38th overall among all individuals. Sophomore Greg Johnson shot a 54-hole score of 237 while classmate Jon Nuger wrapped up the Princeton scoring with a 242.
Senior Nat Hoopes competed as an individual and finished with a three-round score of 238. Michigan State won the team title with a two-day score of 873 with help from Eric Jorgensen, who took medalist honors with a 54-hole score of 212.
Princeton returns to action on Saturday-Sunday, April 6-7 at the Navy Spring Invitational in Annapolis, Md. The Tigers finished second at the 2001 Navy Spring Invitational with Hoopes winning the individual title.
