Men's Tennis Dominates Stony Brook

PRINCETON, N.J. - Princeton extended its winning streak to three matches with a 6-1 win over Stony Brook in men's tennis action on Tuesday afternoon in Jadwin Gymnasium. The Tigers are now 6-3.
Princeton claimed the doubles point by sweeping the first three matches. Daniel Friedman and Scott Stewart picked up a 8-4 win over Jens Pillgram-Larsen and Egil Anonsen at No. 1 doubles. Co-captains Judson Williams and Darren Joe defeated Adam Lazarus and David Hewitt and the No. 2 position, while Trevor Smith and David Gopstein handed Phillippe Amireault and James Carpenter an 8-4 loss at third doubles.
The Tigers cruised to five out of six wins in the singles competition. Williams got things started with a 6-0, 7-5 win against Pillgram-Larsen at first singles. Tim Kofol defeated Anonsen 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2. Friedman and Co-captain Nick Benjamin cruised to 6-1, 6-2 and 6-2, 6-2 wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles respectively. Stewart earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory for the Tigers at No. 5 singles and James Carpenter put the Seawolves on the board with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Princeton's Tim Fuzesi at the No. 6 position. Princeton will return to action on Saturday, March 9 in the second half of a doubleheader. The Princeton women will meet St. John's at 11 a.m. before the men face host the Red Storm at 3 p.m. The match is scheduled for Jadwin Gymnasium.
