PRINCETON, NJ - Lindsey Biles (Fr., Annapolis, MD) scored four goals as Princeton rebounded from Sunday's 15-13 overtime loss to Georgetown with a dominating 18-7 win against Lafayette in women's lacrosse action on Wednesday night at Class of 1952 Stadium.
The Tigers jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first five minutes of the game. Princeton extended its lead to 7-1 before the Leopards ran off three-straight goals to close the gap to 7-4. That was as close as the score would get as the Tigers held a 9-4 lead at the half, and outscored the visitors 9-3 in the second half to cruise to the 18-7 win.
Twelve different Tigers registered at least a point en route to the victory. Theresa Sherry (So., Baltimore, MD), Leigh Slonaker (Fr., Summit, NJ) and Lauren Simone (Sr., Delran, NJ) each registered two goals and an assist for Princeton. Mimi Hammerberg (Sr., Denver, CO) and Sarah Small (Jr., Rumford, RI) each recorded a goal and an assist. Kim Smith (Sr., Baltimore, MD), Whitney Miller (Jr., Bishopsville, MD), Katie Yakulis (So., Radnor, PA) and Tara Hardiman (So., Baltimore, MD) each scored a goal. Heather McClelland led the way for the Leopards with four goals. Erin Gallagher added three, and Jennifer Stone registered all three assists. Leela Strong had a solid night in goal for Lafayette, finishing the night with 16 saves.
Meghan McInnis (So., Baltimore, MD) played the first 16:14 in net for the Tigers -before Sarah Kolodner (Fr., Colds Spring Harbor, NY) came on to close out the game. The pair combined for five saves.
Princeton (1-1) will return to action on Sunday, March 10 when it travels to Loyola for a 2 p.m. contest. The Tigers then return home for a pair of games. They host Virginia on Sunday, March 17 at 1 p.m., and Duke on Wednesday, March 20 at 2 p.m.
