Heavyweight Crew Wins At Penn

Philadelphia. Pa. - The Princeton University men's heavyweight crew won for the second time in as many weekends, racing past Pennsylvania and Columbia in Philadelphia today. The Tigers finished first in all four of their boats to take home the Childs Cup.
The Varsity 8 team crossed the finish in 6:13.6, ahead of a Penn squad that raced a 6.16.8. Columbia lagged behind with a time of 6:45.6. Princeton 2nd Varsity also won, but in a much closer race. The Tigers edged out Penn with a 6:26.5 finish. The Quakers crossed the finish one second later and Columbia trailed both by a full 24 seconds.
In the Freshman 8, Princeton sailed to a 13-second victory over Columbia with Penn taking third. The 3rd Varsity race featured Ivy rivals Princeton and Penn. The Tigers won to sweep the events in strong headwind conditions.
Princeton will next race on Saturday, April 20 at Cambridge, Mass. The heavyweights will take on both Harvard and MIT on the Charles River with races beginning at 9:00 a.m.
