Women's Track Places Second at Ivy Meet

Philadelphia, Pa. - Senior captains Lauren Simmons and Catherine Casey placed first in the 1,500m and 3,000m races, respectively, to lead the Tigers to a second place finish in a meet that also featured Ivy rivals Penn and Yale. Penn took the meet championship with 75 points, Princeton finished in second with 64 and Yale finished third with 63 points.
Simmons captured the 1,500m title with a time of 4:26.55, defeating Kate O'Neill (4:28.66) of Yale by 2.11 seconds. Emily Kroshus picked up a point for the Tigers in the 1,500m when she finished in fourth with a time of 4:40.47.
Casey took first place in the 3,000m with a time of 9:48.29. Casey defeated Laura O'Neill (9:49.09) of Yale by 0.80 seconds. Princeton's Holly Huffman and Sarah Rivlin placed fifth and sixth in the race.
Princeton's Brooke Minor captured the high jump title, clearing 5'8" (1.73m) and Chelo Canino cleared 12'4"(3.76m) in the pole vault to earn first place. Betsy Kennedy's mark of 133'10.5" (40.81m) and Rachel Rosemeyer's mark of 133'9"(40.78) placed them in second and third of the discus final standings. Jen Byrd's time of 15.05 gave her first place in the 100m hurdles and her 34'8.5" (10.58m) mark placed her second in the triple jump.
Natalie Deffenbaugh finished second in the 800m with a time of 2:14.05. Hasina Outtz finished first in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:02.61 and Chanel Lattimer finished third in the 200m with a time of 25.89.
