Women's Track and Field in Fourth Place After Day One of Heptagonal Championships

Annapolis, Md. - Emily Kroshus finished third in the 10,000m with a time of 35:32.47 as the Tigers competed on day one of the 2002 outdoor Heptagonal championships. The wommen's track and field team is currently tied for fourth place with 16 points. Brown is in first with 32, Harvard second with 29 and Cornell, third with 20.
Lauren Simmons qualified for the finals of the 800m run with a time of 2:09.71. Mary Hale of Brown posted the fastest qualifying time of 2:07.61. Simmons also qualified for the 1,500m with a time of 4:34.48.
Emily Kroshus finished third in the 10,000m with a time of 35:32.47. Laura O'Neill of Yale captured the 10,000m title with a time of 35:05.14.
Chelo Canino finished fourth in the pole vault with a height of 3.60m (11'09.75) and Dalia Bach, competing in the same event finished 10th, with a height of 3.20m (10'06.00"). Betsy Kennedy finished sixth in the hammer throw with a distance of 45.66m (149'10") and fourth in the javelin with a mark of 41.23m (135'03"). Rachel Rosemeyer finished in 10th place of the hammer throw with a mark of 43.29 (142'00") and Amy Krilla finished sixth in the javelin with a mark of 40.25m (132'01")
Hasina Outtz qualified for the 400m hurdles' final with a time of 1:00.83. Susan Coltman is in first place of the heptathlon with 3,142 points after one day of competition
