Men and Women's Track and Field Competes at Princeton's Larry Ellis Invitational

Princeton, N.J. - Both the men and women's track and field teams competed in the 2002 Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton. Rocky Craley finished first in the shot put competition with a mark of 55'1". Susan Coltman finished first in the women's long jump, registering a distance of 18'9-1/4". The Tigers are warming up for the Heptagonal Championships that will be held on May 11-12, and will be hosted by the U.S. Naval Academy.
Dwaine Banton finished first in the 100m dash with a time of 10.72 seconds and teammate Ryan Smith finished first in the 800m with a time of 1:47.9. Jeff Bigham finished first in the 10,000m crossing the finish line at 31.39.2
The mile relay team finished first with a time of 3:15.28. Solomon Barnett finished third in the 200m dash, recording a time of 21.83 and Mike Kopp finished third in the 400m with a time of 49.11. Competing in the 1,500 Adam Laive finished in 3:56.50 and Dusty Steinhauer finished the 5,000m in 15:01.7. Josh McCaughey finished first in the hammer throw competition with a mark of 203'2", six inches shy of the school record he set at the Penn Relays a week ago. Marcus Ford-Bey finished fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 47'8".
Paul Lyons finished first in the discus with a distance of 155'8" and teammate Tim Releford took second in the javelin with a mark of 205'4"
Shanon Smith captured the women's shot title with a distance of 10.31m while teammate Amy Krilla finished second in the javelin competition with a distance of 140'1"
Betsy Kennedy took third in the hammer competition with a mark of 150'0". Lauren Simmons finished second in the 400m with a time of 55.84.
Princeton will compete in the Heptagonal Championships on May 11-12, hosted by the U.S. Naval Academy.
