Guadallajuara, Spain - Konrad Wysocki scored 19 points and Pete Hegseth hit a key three-pointer to lead Princeton to an 80-73 win over Rayet Guadallajaura in the final game of the Tigers' seven-game, 12-day trip to Spain.
"It was good to close out the trip with the victory,," said Wysocki. "This trip has given us a lot to look forward to in the upcoming season."
Princeton finished with a 6-1 record on the trip before departing Tuesday morning for Philadelphia.
The Tigers trailed 46-34 at halftime and 64-58 after three quarters before rallying. Princeton led 74-73 with 20 seconds remaining in the game and time expiring on the shot clock when Hegseth drilled a three-pointer to seal the win.
"It felt really good to make that shot," said Hegseth. "Just like anyone one this team, I'm confident that I can make those shots when it counts. Chris Krug set a beautiful screen and I got the look." Ray Robins had 13 points, while Spencer Gloger added 10. Krug scored eight.
"It was good to get out there," said Krug. "I think everyone stepped it up, and we played team defense. We got the stops we needed to."
Princeton will have the 11 players from the trip, as well as freshman Scott Greenman and Michael Kawalek. Practice begins Oct. 15, and the season opens Nov. 22-23 at the Sooner Invitational at Oklahoma. The Tigers will open with UC-Irvine.
"We have guys that can make plays wether they're in for 40 minutes or 40 seconds," said Tiger coach John Thompson. "I have confidence in the guys that are in the game. I think that this group has a lot of confidence in each other and understands how they must play."
