Dalen Davis Records Second Consecutive 19-Point Game as Men's Basketball Falls to Columbia

PRINCETON, N.J. – While the Princeton University men's basketball team led Columbia at the half Saturday night inside Jadwin Gymnasium, the Tigers could not hold on against the Lions and fell, 75-65.
Junior Dalen Davis scored 19 points for the second consecutive game and went 7-for-14 from the field and 4-for-5 from the free throw line. Davis also handed out a team-high four assists. Â Junior Jackson Hicke added 18 points on 7-for-10 shooting and four rebounds, and sophomore Malik Abdullahi finished with 14 points on 5-for-9 shooting along with a team-high seven rebounds.
While the Lions took an early 10-7 led, a three-pointer by Davis ignited a 9-0 run that put Princeton ahead with 13:10 left in the half, 13-10. A three-point play by Davis with 9:17 on the clock kept the Tigers in front, 20-16. Columbia would take a 28-27 advantage with 2:41 remaining in the half, but a pair of late Hicke layup sent Princeton into halftime with a 31-30 advantage.
Early in the second half, the Lions used a 7-0 run to take a 39-35 advantage with 16:35 left to play. Columbia later used an 8-0 run to jump ahead, 57-46, at 8:58. Back-to-back Abdullahi layups along with a freshman Landon Clark layup made it 59-52 contest with 5:44 left to play, but the Lions extended their lead back out to 10 with 1:36 remaining, 70-60. Columbia would eventually hold on for the 75-65 victory.
