Men's Basketball Falls at Brown, 80-71, Despite Hicke's Game-High 26 Points

PRINCETON, N.J. – Despite a game-high 26 points from junior Jackson Hicke, the Princeton University men's basketball team fell to Brown inside the Pizzitola Sports Center Friday night, 80-71.
Hicke's 26 points included a 10-for-12 effort from the free throw, with Hicke's 10 made free throws a career-high. He also recorded a game-high eight rebounds along with three steals, which tied the game-high.
Sophomore Malik Abdullahi finished with 13 points on 4-for-6 shooting from the field, 1-for-2 from three and 4-for-5 from the free throw line while sophomore Peyton Seals scored a season-high 12 points and went 3-for-6 from three and 3-for-3 from the free throw line. In addition, Landon Clark recorded eight points, five rebounds, a career-high five assists and a career-high three steals.
With 18:08 remaining in the half, junior Dalen Davis buried a three-pointer that ignited an 8-0 run that put the Tigers in front, 10-4, with 16:35 on the clock. Brown battled back, using a 14-0 run to jump ahead by 11 points, 25-14, at 8:02.
A three-pointer by freshman Landon Clarke with 7:45 remaining in the half followed by an Abdullahi dunk narrowed the deficit to five, 25-19, with 6:55 on the clock, but Brown's hot shooting continued and the Bears took a 34-23 advantage at 3:08. A three-pointer by Abdullahi led an 8-0 run that made it 36-22 with 1:21 left in the half and the Tigers would go into halftime trailing the Bears, 42-37.
While Brown took a 50-41 lead with 16:43 left to play, a pair of free throws by Hicke ignited a 10-0 run, that included a pair of three-pointers by Seals, that gave the Tigers a 51-50 advantage with 13:07 on the clock. The Bears would eventually take a 11-point lead with 7:37 remaining, 66-56, but Seals' third three-pointer reduced the deficit to seven, 68-61, at 6:33.
With 2:26 remaining Brown extended its lead back to double figures, 76-66, but three free throws by Hicke narrowed it to 78-71 with 0:14 remaining. The Tigers attempted to rally late, but Brown held on for the 80-71 win.
