Princeton, N.J. - Tarah Clark recorded the game-winning goal and tallied an assist as the Tigers defeated the McGill Martlets 3-1 in an exhibition match. McGill is currently ranked No.2 in Canada and features goaltender Kim St-Pierre, who led Canada to a gold medal in the Salt Lake City games.
The Martlets struck first on a short-handed goal by Veronique Lapierre at 16:34 in the first period.
The Tigers turned on the heat in the second period, out-shooting McGill 15-2. April Brown pulled Princeton even at 1-1 with a goal at 4:59 in the second. Clark and Sarah Shea were credited with the assists.
Clark scored at 14:26 on a pass from Susan Hobson, in the third period, to put Princeton up 2-1. Heather Jackson's goal at 18:06 placed the Tigers out of reach with a 3-1 lead. Princeton out-shot McGill 36-13 in the match.
All three Tiger goalies made an appearance in the match. Freshman Roxanne Gaudiel made the start and recorded six saves. Sarah Alquist played the second period and had two saves. Megan Van Beusekom played the final period for the Tigers and tallied four saves.
The Tigers return to action on January 31 when they travel to Vermont for an ECAC match-up. Princeton plays its next for games on the road at Vermont, Dartmouth, Cornell and Colgate before returning home to play Yale on February 14 at 6:00 p.m.
