Philadelphia, Pa. - The Princeton men's golf team sits in first place, four strokes in front of the field, after the first day of the Big 5 Classic at the Philadelphia Cricket Club. The Tigers shot a six-over 290 to claim the lead and are ahead of Georgetown, Richmond and Villanova. Tiger Creighton Page is one of three golfers who shot even-par on Day 1 to lead the field.
Two Princeton golfers were one off the pace set by Page, Villanova's John Keller and Georgetown's Tim Moynihan. Brent Herlihy and Jason Gerken shot a one-over 72 to tie with two others for fourth overall. John Sawin was the final scorer for Princeton in Round 1, as he shot a four-over 75 and tied for 14th on the rundown.
Greg Johnson was the final team member for Princeton and he shot a 79. Jesse Dixon also shot a 79 and he is playing in the tournament as an individual competitor.
The tournament wraps up tomorrow morning with the final round.
