Tigers Lead By One After First Day of Princeton Men's Golf Invitational

Led by even-par 71's from John Locke and Creighton Page, the Princeton men's golf team leads by one stroke after the first round of the 2004 Princeton Invitational at the 6,390-yard Springdale Golf Club.
Princeton's score of 291 leads second-place George Washington by one and third-place Georgetown by two strokes. Six teams shot below 300 on a mild but breezy day, and seven teams are within nine strokes of the lead after the first day.
Navy's Billy Hurley leads the individual race after the first day thanks to a three-under-par 68, including a 33 on the back nine. George Washington's Jack Tyler, Lehigh's Alan Borowsky and William and Mary's Gary Barton are tied for second place after shooting one-under-par 70, while Princeton's Locke and Page are among four golfers tied for fifth at even par.
Jason Gerken also played well for Princeton Friday, shooting a one-over-par 72 to finish in a group of seven golfers tied for ninth place. John Sawin shot a 77 for the Tigers, while Greg Johnson had an 83.
Rutgers (296), Temple (297) and Towson (298) also finished with scores under 300 for the day, while Richmond is nine strokes behind in seventh place with a score of 300. James Madison and Navy are tied for eighth, while Liberty and Saint John's are tied for 10th.
The Princeton "Black" team finished the first day in 22nd position, led by a 76 from Jesse Dixon.
