Georgetown Rallies in Round 2 to Top Men's Golf at Big 5 Invitational

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Princeton men's golf team finished second overall at the Big 5 Classic after Georgetown overcame a four stroke deficit to nip the Tigers by two strokes at the Philadelphia Cricket Club Sunday afternoon. The Tigers shot a 309 today to shoot 599 for the tournament, two strokes behind Georgetown's winning 597.
Behind Princeton in the final run down, Richmond, Temple and Drexel rounded out the top five of the 12-team field.
After being one of three golfers to shoot par and lead the tournament on Day 1, Creighton Page shot 10-over in Round 2, to finish in a tie for ninth overall. The highest Tiger in the individual standings was Brent Herlihy who shot rounds of 72 and 74 to finish the tournament at +4, two shots behind the tournament winner, Tim Moynihan of Georgetown, in second place.
Jason Gerken was the next Tiger as he finished tied for sixth at +7 following rounds of 72 and 77. John Sawin shot an 81 on Day 2 to finish the tournament at +14 in a five-way tie for 29th which included teammate Greg Johnson (79-77). Jesse Dixon was entered into the tournament as an individual competitor and he shot rounds of 79 and 83 to finish at +20 in 50th.
The Tigers play their final tournament of the fall season next weekend at the Georgetown Hoya Invitational.
