Sophomore Lauren Grumet was named the Ivy League Women's Volleyball co-Player of the Week after helping save Princeton's season this past weekend. Although she ended the weekend with 45 kills, it was her final two that were the most important.
After recording 23 kills and 12 digs against Columbia the night before, Grumet had 22 kills and 14 digs in a tense 3-2 win over Cornell. Her 44th kill of the weekend came when Cornell was serving for the match at 14-14 of the fifth game. After Ashley Weber killed a shot to make it 15-14, Grumet made her final kill to give Princeton the 16-14 win.
Princeton is one loss back of Penn, but if it sweeps Harvard, Dartmouth and Columbia in the next six days at Dillon Gym, the Tigers will get a chance to share the league championship when it takes on the Penn Quakers on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at the Palestra.
